About This Spot

Stepping into Da Sun Food House feels like slipping into an old-school neighborhood treasure — an unpretentious nook where the buzz of everyday life mingles effortlessly with the inviting aroma of home-style cooking. Tucked along French Road, this casual coffee shop carries the warm, laid-back rhythm of a familiar local haunt, where the sounds of lively chatter and clattering dishes create a backdrop that feels honest and deeply rooted.

The atmosphere moves at a comfortable, no-rush pace. It’s the kind of place where servers, brisk but well-meaning, keep the energy humming, balancing efficiency with the genuine bustle of a community spot that thrives on quick, hearty meals. Fans hum overhead, carrying just enough relief from the tropical heat, while the nicknamed “noname” fish soup remains a sought-after secret — worth the wait, as passionate regulars will gladly attest.

Here, the menu unfolds like a well-loved recipe book filled with comforting flavors and local favorites that invite exploration beyond the usual. From dishes steeped in tradition, like the fiery sambal-infused rice or simple chicken rice, to heartwarming bowls of fish soup elevated by a fiery chili kick, each plate tells a story of everyday delights meant to nourish the body and spirit. The experience is a reflection of Singapore’s vibrant food culture — familiar, affordable, and beautifully honest.

Da Sun Food House is more than a spot to eat; it’s a small-scale snapshot of local life, where the focus lies in the shared moments over food rather than polished service or curated aesthetics. It draws those who seek a genuine connection to the city’s culinary roots, wrapped in the warmth of a lively yet unpretentious setting.

5 star for no-name fish soup! Always long queue. Serving Auntie always impatient, do not expect top-notch service ok. But the fish soup is worth the queue. Freshness, clear soup full of stock goodness. Slightly sweet. But the chili is the secret condiment. It is super spicy but really brings he fish one level up! (You cannot have extra chili).

Good place for local breakfast set, been here multiple times. The staff are loud but mean well. They're just trying to do thing fast. Eggs are good and fresh. Always a generous dollop of butter. Wish the drinks were a little less sweet, but thats not an issue with them. Standard sweetness.

Double Fish Bee Hoon Soup. Discovered a hidden fish soup shop with no name. The fried fish meat is really chunky and the egg floss is just perfect to go with the clear soup.
